A note from James, who slept on both
I am 86kg / 13st 8lb — the lead reviewer on these two product pages, not the 104kg tester. Sarah, Emma and Rachel make up the rest of the team. I slept the Eve Original Hybrid on a king in a Sheffield two-up-two-down, party wall, no air-con. I slept the OTTY Original Hybrid on a king in a Victorian terrace in Aigburth, Liverpool, 13.5 tog still on because a muggy August does not drop overnight the way drier postcodes pretend. Same job. Different physics. Different receipts.
If you asked me in the kitchen which boxed hybrid to buy with real money, I would start on OTTY. Not because it is a miracle — Sarah Mitchell at 62kg / 9st 11lb still found the 7/10 a bit firm on her side, and David Patel at 104kg / 16st 5lb wanted Extra Firm — because the ticket is lower, the coil count is the one I can feel after the foam, and the small double exists if your frame is 4ft. I would open Eve if you already knew you wanted 200 nights in writing, a Bensons lie-down, or Eve’s hug before the bounce. That is a purchase, not a slogan.
Magazines can name either mattress in a round-up, but none of them slept in those two rooms under those two duvets. Use the trial properly.

The clever bit (no probe theatre)
Press OTTY and the 16cm coil heads answer after the foam. Airflow is OTTY perforating that foam so warmth has somewhere to go, then parking steel underneath so there is a chimney an all-foam bed does not have. Press Eve and you sink into EveComfort and memory first. The 800+ 12cm pockets meet you afterwards. Sarah at 62kg / 9st 11lb could turn on Eve without a press-up and still keep the hug. On OTTY the same 62kg shoulder called 7/10 a bit firm. That is the review.
David at 104kg / 16st 5lb compresses both comfort stacks further. On Eve he wanted more coil count, not a second foam slab — Premium Hybrid. On OTTY he wanted a harder answer — Extra Firm. 42kg between Sarah and David on the same two mattresses. One model cannot run two spring counts and two firmness numbers.

Eve Original Hybrid was a usable back sleep. He still left for Premium Hybrid. OTTY Original’s 7/10 held better than all-foam. He still wanted Extra Firm’s 9/10. Sitting to put socks on was the morning that decided both.

Emma at 71kg / 11st 2lb, hot sleeper, would keep OTTY — shoulder in, floor underneath — and still ran warm. Eve’s foam-on-top night was the warmer terrace. Rachel at 68kg / 10st 10lb, physio lens: motion was OK on Eve, a dull thud on OTTY, not foam-silent. Shift-work partners should trial, not guess.

Official shops, 5 September 2026. OTTY Original Hybrid from £499.99. Eve Original Hybrid from £699. That gap is the commercial argument. Cost-per-night only looks civilised if you pay the sale ticket and keep the bed for years. Do not pay a quiet full RRP on a Tuesday.

Buy Eve Original Hybrid if
- 200 nights in writing is the purchase, not a nice-to-have.
- You want to lie down at Bensons, then still use Eve’s home trial.
