Springs are not a slogan. A 16cm pocket spring is a support job. A 2cm pocket spring is a first-hit job. OTTY Pure Pro — still listed as Pure 3000 in the URL — stacks both. Up to 2,000 of the tall encapsulated coils sit where Original and Pure put them. Up to 1,000 short coils sit in the quilted comfort layer, under the embroidered cover that already holds 2cm of bamboo and charcoal foam. That is why OTTY can print “up to 3,000” without this being a 32cm double-unit. 27cm. Printed 7/10. If you came here expecting Pure+’s 4,000-spring stack, you wanted Pure+. More springs is not automatically more support at 104kg, and it is not automatically more hug at 62kg. Those extra thousand are 2cm first-hit coils, not a thicker core and not a softer flagship.
I pressed the cover with a thumb in a Nottingham Lace Market conversion — brick, tall windows, no AC, a king that had to come up a tight stair. I am 86kg / 13st 8lb — the lead reviewer, not the 104kg tester. The 2cm heads answered first. Then the 16cm unit. Emma Thompson, 71kg / 11st 2lb on her side, hot sleeper, wanted more give than 7/10 and did not get it. David Patel, 104kg / 16st 5lb on his back, sits on the edge, already liked Original’s bounce and could not feel a second spring layer worth the climb. Sarah Mitchell, 62kg / 9st 11lb on her side, could feel the extra coil layer with a thumb and forget it by 2am. They are 42kg apart on the same 3,000-spring stack — that gap is the decision, not a rounding error. Rachel Adams, 68kg / 10st 10lb, physio lens, needed a 200 × 200 Emperor. The picker does not sell one. All five were telling the truth about the same mattress. Three of them would not buy it. That stays.
We score it 4.2/5 — not 4.6, and not 5 — because the comfort-spring layer is a real construction difference, the from-price is only about £15 above Pure, and then king and super king jump hard. It is not automatically a better Pure. Quick verdict for UK buyers
Best OTTY if you already wanted Pure’s charcoal and a thin comfort-spring layer without Pure+ height. We score it 4.2/5 because the 2cm coils are a genuine extra job, Dual Airflow side support is on the spec, a small double is actually sold — and then the till argues. From £539.99 looks like a rounding error next to Pure’s from-price. A king was £799.99 against Pure’s £724.99 the day we checked. Super king £899.99 against £824.99. That is the review as much as the springs. I am 86kg / 13st 8lb on this king — household-average, not David’s 104kg / 16st 5lb night.
OTTY still prints 7/10, the same number as Original. Pure is 6.5. Pure+ is 5.5. “Pro” here does not mean plusher. It means an extra thousand short coils on a firmer Pure stack. Emma Thompson at 71kg / 11st 2lb wanted the 5.5. This was not her mattress. Sarah Mitchell at 62kg / 9st 11lb did not get extra hug from the extra springs. David Patel at 104kg / 16st 5lb did not get extra support from them. Three people on the panel would not buy it — Emma, David, Rachel — and the kilogram figures are why, not a slogan. Use the 100-night trial like an adult, not a ten-minute sit in a shopping-centre concession.
Bottom line: charcoal foam, 27cm, you can feel the 2cm layer, you do not need EU sizes. Continental or Emperor frame — look at Pure. Side sleeper who actually wanted 5.5/10 — Pure+. Not sure this is the OTTY — start on which OTTY should I buy?.

Buy this if
- You wanted Pure’s bamboo and charcoal plus a second spring job — 1,000 × 2cm comfort springs on top of the 16cm unit — without Pure+ height.
- You like Original’s 7/10 medium-firm and still wanted the charcoal stack. This is not a softer Pure. James Wright at 86kg / 13st 8lb is that combination night — the lead reviewer, not the 104kg tester.
- You need a UK small double. OTTY actually sells 120 × 190cm on this model. Pure+ is the one that skips 4ft.
- You will pay the king or super king jump because you can feel the comfort-spring layer, not because the from-price looked like £15.

Match the kilogram figure nearest yours. James at 86kg / 13st 8lb would buy Pure Pro for someone who already wanted charcoal plus the 2cm first-hit layer without Pure+ height — he is the lead reviewer, not the 104kg tester. Three of five testers would not buy it. Sarah at 62kg / 9st 11lb and David at 104kg / 16st 5lb slept on the same 27cm, 7/10, 3,000-spring stack and disagreed: extra springs were not extra hug at 62kg, and not extra support at 104kg. That 42kg gap is the decision.

The 2cm comfort springs — not a second mattress
The clever bit is the short coil layer. OTTY’s support unit is still the familiar 16cm encapsulated pocket springs — up to 2,000 of them, the same height as Original and Pure. On top of that unit, in the quilted comfort layer, sit up to 1,000 springs that are only 2cm tall. Your shoulder hits those first. The tall coils hold the rest of you. Add them and you get the “up to 3,000” badge. 27cm. Printed 7/10. Do not picture two full mattresses stacked. Picture a sprung topper that was sewn into the bed, sitting under 2cm of bamboo and charcoal foam in the embroidered cover.
I can tell the difference in ten seconds. Press Pure and the foam answers, then the 16cm heads. Press Pure Pro and the 2cm heads click first — a tighter, shallower answer — then the tall unit. Emma Thompson at 71kg / 11st 2lb wanted a slower, deeper drop. She did not get one. David Patel at 104kg / 16st 5lb already had Original’s bounce. The extra thousand did not rewrite his back — more springs is not automatically more support at 104kg. Sarah Mitchell at 62kg / 9st 11lb is 42kg lighter on the same stack: the extra springs are not automatically more hug at 62kg either. Rachel Adams at 68kg / 10st 10lb never got that far: her Emperor frame is not on this picker.

Pure+ is the other dual-spring OTTY: up to 4,000 coils, 28cm, printed 5.5/10. That is a different mattress — taller, softer, extra-deep sheets, no small double. If you only wanted charcoal without a second spring job, Pure is the one to buy. If you wanted the short-coil first hit without dropping to 5.5, stay here and pay the size ticket with your eyes open.

Emma Thompson is 71kg / 11st 2lb, 170cm, side-dominant, hot sleeper, former Good Housekeeping interiors writer. Two-up-two-down in West Bridgford, sash windows, no AC, 13.5 tog still on because August had been sticky rather than dramatic. She came in wanting Pure+’s printed 5.5/10. She got Pure Pro’s 7/10. She would not buy it. The kilogram figure is why: at 71kg the 2cm comfort springs take the first inch and then the floor of 7/10 arrives.

Sarah Mitchell — 62kg, Mapperley, motion, then the king ticket
Sarah Mitchell is 62kg / 9st 11lb, 165cm, side sleeper. Founder, former Telegraph sleep editor. Shared a king with a restless partner in a Mapperley top floor that holds the day’s heat. Dual spring layers are supposed to isolate. She got a decent night. Then she opened Pure’s king price. At 62kg the extra 1,000 × 2cm coils were not automatically more hug — a thumb-test she forgot by 2am. She is 42kg lighter than David on the same stack.

David Patel is 104kg / 16st 5lb, 178cm, back sleeper, sits on the edge. Technical editor, former Which? tester. A week as a main bed in a 1930s Beeston semi. He already liked Original’s 7/10 bounce. The question was whether a second spring layer earned the extra money. He would not buy it. Hips stayed up — that is the 16cm unit, the same tall core as Original. The extra thousand 2cm coils did not rewrite his night. More springs is not automatically more support at 104kg. That is not James at 86kg having a slightly heavier week.

Rachel Adams is 68kg / 10st 10lb, 172cm, mixed positions, physio lens. She was shopping for a 200 × 200 Emperor in a Wollaton spare room that already had the frame. Pure still lists Emperor. Pure Pro does not. EU King 160 × 200 is also missing. The review ended at the size picker. She would not buy it because OTTY will not sell the footprint she already owns — a sizing problem at 68kg, not a comfort complaint.

Why 62kg and 104kg disagree
Sarah Mitchell sleeps at 62kg / 9st 11lb. David Patel sleeps at 104kg / 16st 5lb — 42kg more on the same surface. That is not a rounding error. A heavier torso compresses foam further before the springs (or the next foam layer) say stop. A mattress that cradles Sarah’s shoulder can become a crater under David’s hips. A mattress that holds David’s lumbar can feel perched to Sarah. James Wright, the lead reviewer, is 86kg / 13st 8lb — between them, which is why his score is often the household average and not the last word.
On Pure Pro that 42kg gap is why extra springs are not a slogan. We give it 4.2/5. The missing points are not rounding errors.
- The picker is narrower than Pure. Small double is sold — good. EU Double 140 × 200, EU King 160 × 200, and Emperor 200 × 200 are not. Pure still lists all three. Rachel Adams at 68kg / 10st 10lb, physio lens, Wollaton Emperor frame ended the review at checkout. If the bed you already own is continental or a 200cm square, this model is the wrong OTTY. Buy Pure and stop reading Pro blogs.
- The from-price lies about king and super king. Pure from £524.99, Pure Pro from £539.99 on . About £15. Then open the size picker: Pure king £749.99 versus Pure Pro king £824.99; super king £849.99 versus £924.99; double £649.99 versus £749.99. Sarah Mitchell at 62kg / 9st 11lb: seventy-five pounds on the same footprint for a 2cm coil layer you can feel with a thumb and forget by 2am. Extra springs were not extra hug at her weight. Fire testing is FIRA / BS7177 as OTTY states it. Rotate; do not flip. Some retailer listings paste Pure+ wording onto this mattress; it is not 4,000 springs and it is not 5.5/10.

For James Wright at 86kg / 13st 8lb as a combination sleeper in the Lace Market king — the lead reviewer, not the 104kg tester — it read like Original with a sprung topper sewn in. For David Patel at 104kg / 16st 5lb on his back, hips stayed up — which is the 16cm unit doing its job, not a new firmness class and not extra support from the extra thousand 2cm coils. For Sarah Mitchell at 62kg / 9st 11lb the extra springs were not extra hug.

Above that, Extra Firm is the OTTY that actually wants 15st+ on its marketing. Do not hope 2cm coils “bed in” under a heavier frame. Sarah at 62kg / 9st 11lb is 42kg lighter on the same stack — extra springs were not extra hug at her weight either.

Edges: I sit to put socks on at 86kg / 13st 8lb and Dual Airflow keeps the corner more honest than Pure’s foam-only edge in the hand. Usable, not a hotel perch. Pure Pro arrives vacuum-rolled. OTTY’s live page sells free premium two-person delivery as standard — useful, because a 27cm king box is still awkward on a Lace Market stair. Room-of-choice and old-mattress removal are extras at checkout. You pick a date; the morning of, they send a two-hour slot. A single can be a one-person lift. Double and up want two people who still like each other at the half-landing. Cut the wrap on the bed base. Give it 24–72 hours before you decide 7/10 is wrong — the first night on a half-expanded hybrid is a useless test. Open a window for the new-foam smell.

Bed base and sheets
OTTY is happy on divans, slatted frames, adjustable bases, and platforms. They prefer slats for airflow. They do not offer a guarantee on steel bed frames with thin steel supports — sagging risk, their words. Keep slat gaps around 7cm or less. A tired sprung base will make a 27cm hybrid feel cheaper than it is. Floor use is a last resort for a week, not a five-year plan.
Sheets: treat it as 27cm class. Ordinary 25cm fitted sheets usually ping off once a protector is on — Rachel Adams at 68kg / 10st 10lb found that on the Nottingham king. Start at extra-deep 35cm pockets. That is the tax versus a 25cm Pure if your linen cupboard is already full. Add a protector for the trial; do not glue it down.

Short coils over tall coils is a ten-minute feel difference either brand will sell you. The trial length and the 4ft frame are the practical split. OTTY if you need a small double and 100 nights is enough. Nectar if you want a year to decide and you do not need 120 × 190cm.

I am 86kg / 13st 8lb — the lead reviewer, not the 104kg tester. I would not buy it because the from-price is only £15 above Pure. That gap is a single. Kings and super kings jump hard. I would not buy it for Rachel Adams at 68kg / 10st 10lb on an Emperor. I would not buy it for Emma Thompson at 71kg / 11st 2lb if she actually wanted 5.5/10.
