Our rating
4.4/5
Default pick
Simba Hybrid
The only mattress on this page we have actually slept on, with 200 nights to send it back against Silentnight’s 60. Buy Silentnight instead only if you want a shop-floor lie-down first, or you have already decided on the hotel bed.
- 4.4/5 in our review
- From £699
- 200-night trial
- 25cm hybrid
Simba from-prices checked 19 August 2026. Buy on a sale — Simba rarely holds the full ticket for long.

A note from James — I used to build Silentnight
Lead tester · 86kg / 13st 8lb · hot sleeper · back/side · former Silentnight QC · Bristol terrace
I know what a Silentnight pocket unit looks like when you cut the tape. I spent ten years on that floor. That does not give me a free night on the current Lift, UltraGel or Premier Inn 2.0. We have not bought those three and slept on them, so there is no Silentnight bedroom score from us yet — what you get below is the published specification and the names, so you do not end up buying a discontinued one.
The Simba Hybrid sat on my own king in a Bristol terrace: no air-con, late August, 10.5 tog. Aerocoil high enough that you feel bounce and air, not a memory crater with a spring secret. I would buy that Simba on a sale. Sarah at 62kg / 9st 11lb called it hotel-like and still wanted more shoulder give. David at 104kg / 16st 5lb — not me — left for Pro. Emma at 71kg / 11st 2lb is the heat veto; she stayed. Rachel at 68kg / 10st 10lb is the kettle-at-5am check. That panel is a Simba night. It is not a Silentnight night.
So the buy is simple. Want a hybrid we have used and a 200-night net? Open Simba. Want the official Premier Inn bed, a latex 2000, or a 37cm Soft/Firm pillowtop, and you will live with 60 nights or no advertised trial? Open that Silentnight model and use the paperwork. Do not split the difference because both logos are British.
Buy this — then stop shopping
Most people — buy Simba Hybrid
25cm, five layers, up to 1,900 Aerocoil, from £699. Score 4.4/5 from a home trial. 200 nights. 10 years. This is the Simba I would put on my own king at 86kg / 13st 8lb.
Stretch to Hybrid Pro if you are David’s build — 104kg / 16st 5lb, sitting edge, second spring layer. Do not buy Luxe or Ultra to look like you bought the flagship.
Open Simba HybridSilentnight — only for a named job
We have not slept on these. Buy one only if the job is exact:
- Hotel memory → Premier Inn 2.0 from £649, no advertised trial
- Latex + 2000 Mirapocket → Lift Replenish from £569, 60 nights
- 37cm cool pillowtop, Soft or Firm → UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 from £789, 60 nights

| If you are… | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Typical UK sleeper near James (86kg / 13st 8lb), mixed back/side | Buy | Simba Hybrid on a sale. 25cm, hotel bounce, 200 nights. We slept on it. |
| Couples, or David’s weight (104kg / 16st 5lb) with a sitting edge | Buy | Simba Hybrid Pro. Dual Aerocoil + wool. The Simba we kept for exactly that. |
| Guest room, bunk, or student first hybrid | Buy | Simba Hybrid Essential, 20cm. Not a master-bed downgrade for a 104kg sleeper. |
| You already liked a current Premier Inn bed | Trial first | Official Premier Inn Mattress 2.0. Untested here. No advertised sleep trial. Buy the hotel model, not a lookalike. |
| You want latex over a named 2000 Mirapocket unit | Trial first | Silentnight Lift Replenish Hybrid 2000. Untested. 60 nights. Height not printed. |
| You want a 37cm cool-to-touch pillowtop and Soft or Firm | Trial first | Silentnight UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 — not Geltex Ultra 3000. Untested. 60 nights. |
| You need a 200-night refund and a mattress we have slept on | Skip | Skip the current Silentnight models here. Simba is the buy (or Emma / Eve). |
| You are buying the Silentnight name because your parents had one | Skip | Heritage is not a firmness. Pick a model and a trial, or buy the Simba we would put on our own king. |

Match the mattress to the job
You are buying one mattress, not a brand. Find the row that matches your bedroom, then open the shop. Where we have not slept on the Silentnight, the row says so.
| Job | Simba (slept on) | Silentnight (untested) | Push |
|---|---|---|---|
| The one most people should try | Hybrid · £699 · 25cm · 4.4/5 | No direct Silentnight equivalent | Simba Hybrid |
| Guest / bunk / thin frame | Essential · £549 · 20cm · 4/5 | No Silentnight we would put in a bunk | Essential |
| Couples / heavier back | Pro · £899 · 28cm · 4.5/5 | Lift 2000 on paper · £569 · untested | Simba Pro |
| Latex comfort | Simba does not sell a latex mattress | Lift Replenish Hybrid 2000 · untested | Lift · 60 nights |
| Hotel pillowtop | Hotel bounce, not a hotel partnership bed | Premier Inn 2.0 · untested · no advertised trial | 2.0 if you liked the hotel |
| Tall cooling pillowtop | Luxe / Ultra — height tax, slept on | UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 · 37cm · untested · not Geltex Ultra | Simba if you want a mattress we have slept on |
Silentnight models — we have not slept on these
These three are current Silentnight mattresses, so we list them — but nobody on our panel has slept on one. The ratings come from the published specification and the photos are catalogue images. An old Geltex Ultra memory is not the UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000, and a Premier Inn stay in 2019 is not Mattress 2.0 in your bedroom.
- Lift Replenish Hybrid 2000 — latex + 2000 Mirapocket, from £569, 60 nights, 5 years. Height not published. 4.2/5 on specification, not slept on.
- UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 — not Geltex Ultra 3000, not UltraGel 3000 Pocket. From £789, 37cm, Soft or Firm. 4.0/5 on specification, not slept on.
- Premier Inn Mattress 2.0 — official partnership bed, 28.5cm, 1,000 springs, from £649, 6-year guarantee, no advertised sleep trial. 4/5 on specification, not slept on.
Silentnight is still sold under older retailer names too (Mirapocket, Eco Comfort, Studio, Geltex Ultra). Those are the same brand under different badges, not extra mattresses we have slept on. Full range: Silentnight UK range.
The case against each brand
Skip Simba if…
- You want latex. Simba does not sell that job. That is Lift — untested, 60 nights.
- You want the official Premier Inn bed. Simba bounce is not a hotel partnership model.
- You are Sarah at 62kg / 9st 11lb on your side and Hybrid already felt perched — Pro or Luxe, or a hug brand, not a Silentnight guess.
- You refuse to buy boxed and you can lie on the exact Silentnight model in a shop this week.
Skip Silentnight if…
- You need a 200-night cash-back-style trial. You do not have one on these models.
- You want a score from someone who has actually slept on it. We have not, on any of the three.
- You are buying Geltex Ultra 3000 off an old round-up. The live cooling 3000 is UltraGel Cool-to-touch. Different page.
- You need a 4ft Lift or Premier Inn 2.0. Those pickers did not stock small double the day we checked.
What the crew actually said — Simba nights only
| Tester | Body | Simba Hybrid | Silentnight current models |
|---|---|---|---|
| James Wright | 86kg / 13st 8lb · back/side · hot | Would buy Hybrid on a sale for his own king | Not slept on — specification only |
| Sarah Mitchell | 62kg / 9st 11lb · side | Hotel feel; shoulder still wanted more give | No night |
| Emma Thompson | 71kg / 11st 2lb · hot · side-dominant | Stayed — heat veto passed on Hybrid | No night |
| David Patel | 104kg / 16st 5lb · back · sits on the edge | Hybrid lie-down yes; left for Pro | Not slept on — Lift only looks right for him on paper |
| Rachel Adams | 68kg / 10st 10lb · mixed · physio | Motion good, not magic — kettle caveat | No night |
Simba vs Silentnight FAQ
Final push
Buy the Simba Hybrid on a sale if you wanted a UK hybrid we have slept on and a 200-night net. Buy Pro if you are David’s build. Buy Essential for a guest bunk, not a master bed at 104kg / 16st 5lb. Buy Silentnight only when you want that specific mattress — hotel 2.0, latex Lift, or UltraGel 3000 — and you accept that we have not slept on it. I used to stamp Silentnight units. I still would not sell you one on a specification alone.
Our score: 4.4/5 for Simba Hybrid, from nights in a real bedroom. Current Silentnight models: not slept on yet.
