| Not this mattress | The older listing is Geltex Ultra 3000. The current sibling is UltraGel 3000 Pocket (from £769, boxtop, no SensICE cover). Silentnight’s own collection tile still says “Geltex” on this one, which is naming drift rather than a second mattress. |
| Construction | SensICE™ cool-to-touch sleep surface, UltraGel™ gel comfort layer, plush pillowtop, 2,000 Mirapocket® springs plus 1,000 mini springs (sold as 3,000). |
| Depth | 37cm on every size (single through super king) on Silentnight’s official dimensions table. It is a pillowtop, so buy sheets for that depth. |
| Firmness | Soft or Firm — buyer picks on the same page. No single 1–10 printed on the hero. |

A note from James, who has not slept on this one
Lead tester · 86kg / 13st 8lb · hot sleeper · back/side combo · former Silentnight QC · not the 104kg tester · has not slept on this one
I used to sign off Silentnight builds in Barnoldswick. I still read a 3000-spring ticket the way other people read a sale banner. The live UK name on 2 September 2026 is UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000, not Geltex Ultra 3000. Geltex was the 2014 comfort-layer word. UltraGel™ is the current one. SensICE™ is the fabric that is supposed to feel cold when you put a hand on it. The collection page still stamps “Geltex” on this model. That is why shoppers mash the two together. They are not the same listing.
I have not taken this pillowtop up a terrace stair. I have not put 62kg / 9st 11lb on her side or 104kg / 16st 5lb on his back. I have not kicked a 13.5 tog off in a room with no air-con. If you came here for a sleep score, you are early — our How we test rule is a month in a real UK bedroom. What follows will at least stop you buying an old Dreams-era Geltex Ultra by mistake, or clicking UltraGel 3000 Pocket when you wanted this one.
It scores 4/5 on the specification: a current UK mattress, honest construction, short trial. That is not a verdict on how it sleeps, because I have not slept on it. The score moves once we have.
Quick verdict for UK buyers
We have not slept on this mattress. Treat every comfort sentence below as a reading of Silentnight’s official UK page, not a named night in Leeds, Liverpool or anywhere else.
Buy this if you want the current Silentnight cooling 3000 from the brand site: pillowtop, UltraGel, cool-to-touch cover, Soft or Firm, a small double that is actually listed, and you will live with 60 nights and a 5-year warranty. Skip it if you came for the older Geltex Ultra 3000 name, for UltraGel 3000 Pocket’s cheaper boxtop, or for a 200-night boxed trial.
Bottom line: current model, honest gap in our testing. Whole Silentnight map: Silentnight mattress review.
Who this 3000 is for (on paper)
Consider this if
- You want the current Silentnight.co.uk 3000 with the cool-to-touch cover, not a leftover Geltex Ultra listing.
- You will pick Soft or Firm on purpose and use the 60-night guarantee instead of a ten-minute shop lie-down.
- You need a UK small double (120 × 190cm) — this picker lists it.
- You like a traditional pillowtop over a vacuum-packed 25cm box, and you can wait about 14 days.
Skip this if
- You wanted a 30-night score from us. We do not have one. Nothing here is a night James spent on it.
- You meant UltraGel 3000 Pocket — different URL, from £769, boxtop, no SensICE hero.
- You need a 200-night trial or a 10-year warranty. Silentnight’s ticket here is 60 nights and 5 years.
- You need a mattress tomorrow. This one is made to order.
Paper decisions only. Every row is “trial first” or “skip” until we have slept on it.
| If you are… | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hot sleeper who wants the current Silentnight cooling 3000 | Trial first | SensICE and UltraGel are aimed squarely at heat. Emma Thompson at 71kg / 11st 2lb is our hot sleeper and has not slept on it, so use the 60 nights. |
| Lighter side sleeper around 62kg | Trial first | Sarah Mitchell at 62kg / 9st 11lb often needs give. Soft is the obvious click. We have not felt her shoulder on this pillowtop. |
| Heavier back sleeper around 104kg | Trial first | David Patel at 104kg / 16st 5lb is the heavy tester, not James. Firm is the obvious click. A pillowtop can still dump a 104kg hip. We have not seen it. |
| You typed Geltex Ultra 3000 into Google | Trial first | Confirm you are on the Cool-to-touch 3000 product page, not an old retailer Geltex Ultra card and not UltraGel 3000 Pocket. |
| You wanted a 200-night boxed hybrid | Skip | Wrong shop. Start on Emma, Simba, Eve or OTTY on this site. |

Same spring arithmetic on the two UltraGel 3000s does not make them one model. Same word “gel” on an old Geltex Ultra card does not make it this mattress. If a shop still advertises Geltex Ultra 3000, ask exactly which mattress they mean.
The published stack — not a cutaway we photographed
Silentnight’s Cool-to-touch 3000 page, in their order: a cool-to-touch sleep surface; a gel-infused layer that “responds to your movements”; 3,000 Mirapocket® springs for pressure relief; a plush pillowtop; then the FAQ line that the 3,000 is 2,000 Mirapocket® plus 1,000 mini springs. They also say the UltraGel layer is 5× more breathable than memory foam. That is Silentnight’s own comparison, not an independent measurement.
I used to watch pocket-and-mini builds leave Barnoldswick. Mini springs under a pillowtop are there so the first inch is not only foam. Whether that first inch holds 104kg / 16st 5lb or hugs 62kg / 9st 11lb is the night we have not had. Rachel Adams at 68kg / 10st 10lb is the alignment check on this site; she has not seen this spine on a camera either.
Cool-to-touch is a fabric claim
SensICE™, on Silentnight’s FAQ, “provides an instant cooling effect to skin, taking the heat away from your body.” UltraGel is sold as the breathable comfort layer under that. Instant-cool fabric is a real textile trick. It is also the first thing a 13.5 tog duvet in a 22°C UK bedroom can wipe out. 71kg / 11st 2lb, hot sleeper, is who we would ask. We have not asked her in a bed. Silentnight’s own review summary on that product page even notes some buyers saying the cool-to-touch claim did not fully match the night. Their customers. Not our panel.
If you sleep hot and you want a Silentnight, this is the current cooling 3000 to look at. If you sleep hot and you want a mattress we have already spent a month on, start on the Emma, Simba, Eve or OTTY reviews instead of trusting a fabric name.
Soft or Firm — there is no secret third number
The picker is Soft and Firm. Not medium. Not 6.5/10. The collection tile does not even print a firmness badge on this model; it prints “Geltex.” That is how you end up on the wrong page. I would send a dedicated stomach sleeper toward Firm and a lighter side sleeper toward Soft, then shut up until we have nights. James at 86kg / 13st 8lb is not a stand-in for either end.
UK prices (2 September 2026)
Advertised from £789 including VAT on silentnight.co.uk. The collection tile repeats From £789. The configurator that day showed size add-ons on top of that from-price (Single +£0, Small Double +£240, Double +£240, King +£450, Super King +£720) and separate Soft / Firm deltas that did not read as a clean pair of RRPs. I am not going to invent a Soft king ticket. Check the live product page.

Better clicks if this is the wrong Silentnight
- Silentnight brand review — every current model, plus the older Geltex Ultra 3000 that is easy to confuse with this one.
- Emma Original Elite — if you wanted a cooling hybrid we have already slept on, with a 200-night trial.
- OTTY Original Hybrid — if you wanted a 25cm boxed 3000-class hybrid with a 100-night trial and a named night from James.
- Best cooling mattresses — if a cool-to-touch cover is your main concern and Silentnight was only a starting point.
UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 FAQ
Final verdict
I would open the Silentnight UK page and confirm the words Cool-to-touch 3000 before I spent £789. I would pick Soft or Firm on purpose. I would not tell you this is the same mattress as Geltex Ultra 3000, and I would not tell you it is UltraGel 3000 Pocket with a colder cover. I am James Wright, 86kg / 13st 8lb — the lead reviewer, not the 104kg tester. I have not slept on it. 104kg / 16st 5lb has not sat on the edge. 62kg / 9st 11lb has not parked a shoulder in the pillowtop. Until we have, the honest answer is 4/5 from the specification and a catalogue photo.
Our score: 4/5, from the specification. We have not slept on this yet.

About the tester

James Wright
Lead Product Tester · Former Quality Manager, Silentnight Beds
James spent 10 years in Silentnight quality control. He is 86kg / 13st 8lb — the lead reviewer, not the 104kg tester — a hot sleeper who rolls from back to side. He has not slept on this UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 yet, so this review is built from Silentnight’s published UK specification.
Named panel when we do sleep on it: Sarah Mitchell 62kg / 9st 11lb, Emma Thompson 71kg / 11st 2lb, David Patel 104kg / 16st 5lb, Rachel Adams 68kg / 10st 10lb. None of them have a night on this model yet.
