Simba vs OTTY — which mattress should I buy in the UK?

Buy OTTY Original Hybrid if you want the cheaper 25cm boxed hybrid and you will use 100 nights. Live from-price on 5 September 2026 was £499.99; a king was £699.99. Buy Simba Hybrid if you want Aerocoil bounce at the surface and Simba’s 200-night free collection. Simba advertised from £699; the king we slept on was £999 that day. Same 4.4/5. Different springs. Different paperwork.

Is this the Simba Hybrid or the Hybrid Pro?

Hybrid — 25cm, five layers, up to 1,900 Aerocoil in one layer. Not Essential (20cm guest model, formerly GO). Not Pro (28cm, dual Aerocoil + wool). David Patel at 104kg left Hybrid for Pro when the sitting edge and hips wanted a second spring layer. If you already knew you wanted Pro, read that review instead.

Is this the OTTY Original Hybrid or Aura / Extra Firm / Pure?

Original Hybrid — 25cm flagship, up to 2,000 × 16cm pocket springs, printed 7/10. Aura is the 23cm guest/budget OTTY. Extra Firm is the flippable 9/10–10/10 OTTY market at 15st+. Pure is charcoal foam on a similar core. Do not buy Aura to “save” on a master bed.

Which is cheaper — Simba Hybrid or OTTY Original?

OTTY, on the tickets we checked 5 September 2026. Original: single £499.99, small double £599.99, double £624.99, king £699.99, super king £799.99. Simba Hybrid from £699; king £999 overstock the same day. An 8% OTTY code (DREAMY26, orders over £400) was live — codes die. Simba runs community/key-worker cuts. Do not pay a flashed RRP on either.

Simba 200-night trial vs OTTY 100-night trial — does it matter?

Yes if you are slow to settle or share the bed. Simba: 200 nights from delivery, free collection if you buy from Simba. OTTY: 100 nights, free collection, they ask for about 30 nights first. Same 10-year manufacturing warranty on both — softening is not a defect. John Lewis / Dreams Simba tickets are not automatically Simba’s 200 nights.

Which sleeps cooler — Simba Hybrid or OTTY Original?

Both beat a slow memory-foam hug. Neither is a fridge. Simba puts graphite Simbatex over Aerocoil that pump air as they compress. OTTY perforates the foam (Airflow) over 16cm pockets. Emma Thompson at 71kg, who runs warm, stayed on Simba and ran warmer on OTTY under a 13.5 tog with no AC.

Which is better for side sleepers?

Neither is a plush side-sleeper bed. Sarah Mitchell at 62kg found OTTY’s 7/10 a bit firm at the shoulder and Simba hotel-like with not enough give. If your shoulders are the deciding factor, you want a different model — OTTY Pure+ or Simba Luxe — plus extra-deep sheets. Use the trial.

I weigh about 15 stone — Simba Hybrid or OTTY Original?

David Patel is 104kg / 16st 5lb, back. Hybrid held a lie-down; he still wanted Pro’s second Aerocoil layer if he was perching on the edge. Original’s 7/10 held better than all-foam; Extra Firm is the OTTY they market at 15st+ if you actually want a hard bed. Sarah at 62kg is 42kg lighter on the same two stacks. If your hips already feel light at 15st, skip the hope.

Prices move. The trial is the product if you buy from the brand. Do not convert a euro screenshot into a UK bargain.

What it actually felt like

Simba is springs on top. OTTY is springs underneath. On Hybrid I meet Aerocoil first. On Original I drop through foam, then the 16cm pockets answer. I can turn on both at 80kg. I would tell a typical household watching a king ticket to spend the OTTY money and use the 100 nights. I would put the Simba on my own bed if I wanted bounce and 200 nights, and a sale was on.

Sarah Mitchell, 62kg, side, sore shoulder. OTTY’s 7/10 was plenty — a bit firm. Simba’s hotel line left her perched. If your shoulder is why you are shopping, do not pay Simba’s ticket hoping bounce equals cushion, and do not assume OTTY’s word “hybrid” means plush.

Emma Thompson, 71kg, side-dominant, runs warm. Both beat dense foam. She stayed on Simba in a sealed terrace. She ran warmer on OTTY’s Airflow stack under a 13.5 tog. She is not a lab probe. OTTY Ice is a cover, not a seventh mattress.

Rachel Adams, 68kg, mixed positions, she tosses. OTTY: she noticed a get-up less. Simba: she rolled without a crater, and she felt the other person. Quiet couple: OTTY. Restless couple who want to move: Simba. Pick the job.

100 nights feels short and you wanted 200 with free collection.
You need a Saturday lie-down — OTTY is a box, not John Lewis.
You actually want a hard bed at 15st+. That is Extra Firm, not this 7/10.

Skip Simba Hybrid if

The king ticket is the objection. OTTY undercuts it by ~£300 on the same 25cm idea.
You wanted a memory-foam hug and hush. Rachel felt the bounce. Sarah’s shoulder wanted more give.
You are paying a flashed RRP on a Tuesday. Wait for the sale. Same rule as OTTY.

The bit competitors skip

The trial is not a tie. 200 nights vs 100 nights if you buy direct. You are paying Simba for a longer undo and bounce you can feel, not for a thicker bed.
Spring count is a marketing number. 1,900 Aerocoil on top is not “fewer than” 2,000 full-height pockets underneath — they sit in different places and do different jobs. Ten minutes on your back tells you which you have bought.
John Lewis is Simba’s real extra, not “titanium”. A ten-minute lie-down beats another comparison table. OTTY is a box on the doorstep.
Forty-two kilograms is not a rounding error. Sarah at 62kg and David at 104kg slept on the same two mattresses and disagreed. One household with that gap uses the trial as the product — neither model runs two firmnesses.

Typical UK household, mixed sleep, watching a king ticket: OTTY Original Hybrid, 100 nights in writing. Bounce, heat, or a showroom lie-down: Simba Hybrid on a sale. I am 86kg and I would send most people to OTTY’s ticket. I would keep Simba for myself if the sale was on and I wanted 200 nights. Sarah’s shoulder, Emma’s fan, Rachel’s get-up, David’s hips — pick the body that is yours, not the logo.
