Prices move weekly. The 200-night trial is the product if you buy from the brand, not a slightly cheaper third-party with a shorter one.
What it actually felt like
Emma is the sink. Simba is the trampoline you stop on. On Original I drop through Halo foam, then InfinitySpring says enough. On Hybrid I stay on the Aerocoil. I can turn on both at 86kg. I would tell a typical household to spend the Emma sale money and stop. I would put the Simba on my own bed if I wanted bounce and a sale was on.
Sarah Mitchell, 62kg, side, old sore shoulder. She wanted give. Emma’s Halo slab was the kinder of the two. Still not a pressure-relief specialist — that is Elite on a sale. Simba’s hotel line left her perched. If your shoulder is why you are shopping, do not pay Simba’s ticket hoping bounce equals cushion.
Emma Thompson, 71kg, side-dominant, runs warm. Emma’s 4/5 medium-firm badge oversold lumbar hold on a sticky night. She kicked the duvet. Simba’s graphite plus microsprings that move air was the one she stopped arguing with. She is a hot sleeper in a room with no air-con, not a lab instrument.
Rachel Adams, 68kg, mixed positions, she tosses. Emma: she noticed a get-up less. Simba: she rolled without a crater, and she felt the other person. Pick the job. Do not buy “premium” if hush is the job.
David Patel, 104kg, back, sits on the edge. Emma can dump a heavier sleeper — Emma’s own copy warns that group. His hips travelled. Simba kept him more on top. If Hybrid still felt shallow under the hips or he was perching to put socks on, that is Hybrid Pro, not a nicer cover on this one.

- You are buying on price — from £349, doubles often £349–£469. Do not pay the ~£499 RRP.
- You want a hug and hush — Rachel’s couple, Sarah’s shoulder.
- You sleep cool-to-neutral and you are not already damp at 1am.
- You will use 200 nights from Emma direct, not a third-party weekend.
Buy Simba Hybrid if
- You want bounce — James at 86kg would put this on his own king on a sale.
- You sleep hot like Emma Thompson — not a miracle, better than Original’s missing cooling layer.
- You are a heavier sleeper around David’s 104kg and Emma dumped the hips.
- You want to lie down first in John Lewis or Dreams, then still use Simba’s 200 nights if you buy from Simba.
Deal-breakers — walk away
Skip Emma Original if
- You already wake damp. No ThermoSync. No AirGrid. Emma Thompson kicked it. That is heat, not marketing.
- You are a heavier sleeper. David at 104kg lost hip hold. Emma itself warns that group.
- You are buying a 2019 Which? Best Buy. That sticker is the discontinued all-foam Original. This model is the old Hybrid Premium.
Skip Simba Hybrid if
- You wanted a memory-foam hug and hush. Rachel felt the bounce. Sarah’s shoulder wanted Emma’s sink.
- The ticket is the objection. From £699 is not guest-room money. Emma undercuts it on the same 25cm idea.
- You are paying a flashed RRP on a Tuesday. Wait for the sale. Same rule as Emma.
Both lose if you needed a guest-room slab (Emma Lite / Simba Essential) or you are climbing because the box says Pro. Full maps: which Emma · which Simba.
The bit competitors skip
- The trial is a tie. 200 nights vs 200 nights if you buy direct. You are not paying Simba for a longer undo. You are paying for springs you can feel.
- The Which? sticker is a different bed. Best Buy ads still circulating are the old foam Original. Close the tab.
- John Lewis is Simba’s real extra, not “titanium”. A ten-minute lie-down beats another comparison table. Emma is mostly a box on the doorstep.
- Forty-two kilograms is not a rounding error. Sarah at 62kg and David at 104kg slept on the same two mattresses and disagreed. One household with that gap uses the trial as the product — neither model runs two firmnesses.
Emma vs Simba — purchase questions
Buy it — then stop shopping
Typical UK household, mixed sleep, a real budget: Emma Original on a sale, 200 nights in writing. Bounce, heat, or a showroom lie-down: Simba Hybrid on a sale. I am 86kg and I would send most people to Emma’s ticket. I would keep Simba for myself if the sale was on and I wanted to turn. Sarah’s shoulder, Emma’s fan, Rachel’s get-up, David’s hips — pick the body that is yours, not the logo.
