Which is better in the UK in 2026 — Emma or Silentnight?

Emma Original, for most households. We slept on it (4.4/5). It starts from £349, includes a 200-night trial and a 10-year guarantee, and it is the current Emma volume seller — formerly Hybrid Premium, not the old all-foam Which? Best Buy. Silentnight’s live heroes on this site are UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 (from £789), Lift Replenish Hybrid 2000 (from £569) and Premier Inn Mattress 2.0 (from £649). We have not slept on any of those three. Buy Silentnight if you want to lie on a high-street sprung bed first, or if you already decided on the hotel model.

Have you sleep-tested Silentnight UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000, Lift Replenish or Premier Inn 2.0?

Not yet. None of James Wright, Sarah Mitchell, David Patel, Emma Thompson or Rachel Adams has taken those three Silentnight mattresses home, and we only score from a night after at least 30 nights in a real UK bedroom. The Silentnight scores here come from the published specification, so read 4.0 or 4.2 as a rating of the construction, not a verdict on how they sleep.

Is UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 the same as Geltex Ultra 3000?

No. Geltex Ultra 3000 is the older name still sitting on some retailer listings. The live silentnight.co.uk product is UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000 — SensICE™ cover, UltraGel™ comfort layer, 2,000 Mirapocket® plus 1,000 mini springs, Soft or Firm, advertised from £789 on 2 September 2026, 37cm on the official size table. We have not slept on either one, and an old Geltex review does not describe this mattress.

Emma Original vs Silentnight Lift Replenish Hybrid 2000 — which is the fairer hybrid match?

Lift is the closer hybrid spec: latex plus EcoMemory Fibre over 2,000 Mirapocket springs, from £569, Medium/Soft or Medium/Firm. Emma Original is a 25cm boxed hybrid from £349 with a taller InfinitySpring core than Lite. Price gap is still about £220 before you count Emma’s 200-night trial versus Silentnight’s 60. We have slept on Original. We have not slept on Lift. If you only wanted “springs plus a comfort layer” and you will use a 60-night guarantee after a store lie-down, Lift is the Silentnight to open. Most people should still start with Original on a sale.

Should I buy the Silentnight Premier Inn Mattress 2.0 because I liked the hotel bed?

Only if that hotel bed is genuinely what you want. Premier Inn 2.0 is the official Hotel to Home / Premier Inn At Home model — 28.5cm, pillowtop, Geltex®, 1,000 Mirapocket springs, from £649 on 2 September 2026. It is not a boxed Emma rival and it does not advertise a 200-night trial. We have not slept on 2.0. If you just want a hybrid that arrives in a box with 200 nights to send it back, buy Emma Original.

Emma or Silentnight for side sleepers?

Start with Emma Original if you are a typical UK side sleeper and you will use the 200-night trial. Sarah Mitchell (62kg / 9st 11lb) scored Original 4.5/5 — comfortable, but her shoulder wanted more give. Dedicated hot side sleepers should open Emma Original Elite, not a Silentnight we have not slept on. Silentnight UltraGel Soft is the store click if you want a deep pillowtop you can lie on first; we have not felt it.

Emma or Silentnight for back pain or heavier sleepers?

Neither brand is a medical device. David Patel (104kg / 16st 5lb) scored Emma Original 4.0/5 — fine as a default, advertised medium-firm felt too soft on his back, sitting edge wanted more stop. Rachel Adams (68kg) would not start a heavier stomach sleeper on Original. Silentnight’s Firm UltraGel or a traditional Mirapocket is the high-street “plank” story; we have not slept on the current heroes. Use the trial. Keep the receipt.

Emma or Silentnight for hot sleepers?

Emma Original is the wrong Emma if you already know you sleep hot — no ThermoSync, no AirGrid. Emma Thompson (71kg / 11st 2lb) scored it 3.6/5 and asked to leave after two sticky nights. James Wright (86kg, hot sleeper, ex-Silentnight QC) would not keep Original himself. Silentnight prints SensICE™ and UltraGel™ on the Cool-to-touch 3000. Those are Silentnight sentences. We have not slept a muggy UK night on it. If heat is your main problem, open Emma Original Pro or Elite — those we have used — or wait until we have nights on UltraGel.

How long is the Emma trial versus Silentnight?

Emma Original: 200-night home trial, free collection, 10-year guarantee, typically next-day box on Emma’s own site. Silentnight UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000, Lift Replenish Hybrid 2000 and Premier Inn 2.0: 60-night sleep guarantee and a 5-year warranty on the official pages we checked 2 September 2026. UltraGel is made to order, about 14 days — not a next-day box. That trial gap is the money. A £789 Silentnight you cannot send back after week nine is a different purchase to a £349 Emma you can return in month six.

I used to QC Silentnight. Buy the Emma.

I spent ten years in Silentnight quality control. I know how Mirapocket units are supposed to sit. I also slept on the current Emma Original in a north-facing spare room with no AC. For a typical UK household replacing one bed, Original is the buy. Sale price. Two hundred nights. A 25cm hybrid you can actually turn on.

Silentnight’s live cooling hero is now UltraGel Cool-to-touch 3000, from £789, 37cm, Soft or Firm. That is a proper deep sprung pillowtop on paper. I have not taken it home. Neither has Sarah, David, Emma or Rachel. So there is no night score from us on it.

If you want Silentnight, buy it because you can lie on it in a shop — that is still the brand’s advantage — or because you already decided on Premier Inn 2.0 or Lift. Do not buy it because an old Geltex Ultra badge is still in a Google snippet.
