Emma Original is the one I would tell a typical household to buy on a sale. I would not keep it myself — warm nights still got the duvet kick. OTTY’s coils answered after the foam. That is the hybrid I actually want if I am paying flagship money and I will use 100 nights. I am 86kg. I am not David.

At 62kg OTTY’s 7/10 was plenty of mattress — a bit firm at the shoulder. Emma’s Halo layer let it in without cheap-foam quicksand. Partner getting up was quieter on Emma. I would spend Emma sale money and take the longer trial. I would not buy OTTY hoping it becomes a hug.

I am the heat veto. Emma Original has no ThermoSync and no AirGrid. Two sticky nights and I wanted the Pro. On OTTY I got a shoulder in and a floor underneath. I would buy Original Hybrid for me. I would not buy Extra Firm unless I wanted to feel punished, and I would not tell a charcoal shopper this is Pure.

104kg. Hybrid did not mean extra firm. Emma’s 4/5 badge oversold it on my back. OTTY held my hips better than foam and still not enough — I wanted Extra Firm’s 9/10. OTTY market that one at 15st+. Stop selling me 7/10 as support at my weight. Sitting up for tea wanted more stop on both.

Physio hat, 68kg, mixed. Emma’s 5-zone idea is the clearer lumbar story for a lot of backs if you give it weeks. I would not start a heavier stomach sleeper on Emma — hips can drop. OTTY is the every-night bounce bed, not a trophy spare. Aura exists if nobody lives in the room.
Shop the two models. Skip the leftovers.
Do not climb the range by accident. Emma Original Pro is ThermoSync hug. Elite is AirGrid money. Lite (from £289) is the firmer cheap Emma. OTTY Extra Firm (from £524.99) is the plank. Aura is guest money. Pure is charcoal. If these two beds already feel like enough, keep the money.
- You want a plank — OTTY Extra Firm or Emma Lite, not these.
- You already know you sleep hot and will pay for it — Emma Pro / Elite, not Emma Original.
- Guest room on a budget — Emma Lite or OTTY Aura, not flagship money.
