Most “Emma vs Nectar” pages still argue foam recipes from 2021. The commercial difference in 2026 is the clock. If you will sleep on it for six weeks and decide, Emma’s 200 nights are enough. If you will only click buy with a year behind the button, stop reading and open Nectar Classic Hybrid.

Emma Original is the one I would order tonight on a sale. I can turn. The zones hold my lower back better than Nectar’s even 5/10 hug. Nectar feels more like a hotel topper on springs — nice at midnight, slightly squashy when I sat up for water. If someone in the house will only buy with a year on the ticket, I would let them have Nectar. I would not pay a fake RRP for either.

At 62kg I do not punch through a hybrid core. Emma’s MemoryAdapt is the useful bit for my shoulder; the bounce still left me a bit perched on my side some nights. Nectar’s printed 5/10 bounce was extra I did not always want — I kept thinking about the slower Classic Foam hug. I was cooler on Nectar Hybrid than on Nectar foam. I would not call either Elite.

I am the heat veto. Original cooked me on a still night under a winter tog. Springs help. They are not ThermoSync. Nectar Hybrid is the less-stuffy Nectar, not a cooling mattress. If heat is your problem, neither of these is the answer. I would not pick Nectar’s 5/10 as my own bed — too squashy on my side.

104kg. Not James. Emma’s medium-firm icon oversold it on my back. Sitting up for tea I wanted more stop. Nectar’s pockets answered my hip better than Nectar foam; the edge is still hotel-ish. 42kg heavier than Sarah on the same two boxes. Use the trial for weeks, not a long weekend.

Physio hat, 68kg, mixed positions. Neither is an NHS mattress. Emma’s 5-zone idea is the clearer lumbar story. Nectar is one even medium. If someone buys for “back pain” as the only line, I want them on a trial they will actually use — and that is where Nectar’s year earns its keep. Front sleepers heavier than me should not start here.
Shop the two models. Skip the leftovers.
Do not “step up” by accident. Emma Original Pro is the graphite ThermoSync hug. Elite is AirGrid money. Nectar Premier Hybrid is 28cm, micro-springs, from £549, no small double. Nectar Classic Foam is the slow hug without springs. If the two mattresses above already feel like enough, keep the money.
- You need a dedicated cooling layer — Emma Pro / Elite, not this pair.
- You want a UK-made spring story — Simba (Leeds) or Eve (Huntingdon).
- You live on the edge of a small double and want a bench — neither edge is that.
- You will pay the strikethrough “RRP”. Wait for the live sale on both.
